Brian Wilson passed away today.

Anyone who grew up listening to the Beach Boys will remember him.

More interesting to me, and probably only to me, was John Wimber, who went on to being a Charismatic evangelical theologian after his BB career.

Wasn't much of a theologian either, mind 🤣

Brian Wilson has been am important inspiration for me ever since I first became aware of The Beach Boys - When I was 12 or 13. 

I have listened to their music, mostly as defined as the creation of Brian Wilson, throughout the ensuing six decades with no loss of enjoyment or respect. IMO Wilson is among a handful of important musicians, composers, arrangers, producers (no matter the genre) whose work has had a major impact on the history of 20th century music. 

His music will live on and that is my only consolation for this very big loss.

Brian Wilson, for me, is one of the main reasons why I became so interested in music. Pieces like Surf's Up, 'Til I Die and God Only Knows are forever imprinted into my mind. This man was a brilliant songwriter without question. RIP, Brian Wilson.

     About 30 years ago I used to jam with a kid named Mac Randall in my Arlington basement apartment. We'd both plug in to my little Cambridge Reverb amp and noodle away.
