I prefer a flatter sound across the works dynamically with quite a bit of reverb giving a new age feel to these fantastic works.

Classical & Baroque styles lend themselves better for such recordings.

Is there a context I'm missing? I can't think of many classical works that benefit from squashed dynamics and a swimmy acoustic.

One I found was the London Symphony Orchestra playing Mozart wind concertos.  It's just what I look for.

I think I'm just standing up for those who prefer emotionally sterile art.
