Pohjolas Daughter

Quote from: ando on June 24, 2024, 11:23:07 AMI got the message. Many people don't!
Well done you!  ;)

I've watched Cornell's hawk cams off and on and have seen and heard how Big Red and her mate Arthur will react and drive certain breeds of birds out of the area during breeding season; they don't mess around!

Are those Canadian geese? Peaceful as they are during most of the year, don't veer too close to the pregnant clan during early spring or you'll see a very different side. 🌝

Yes, I think they are Canadian geese. Here is one I got close to:

Spotted Horses

Quote from: ando on October 24, 2023, 12:22:39 PMThanks again, PD. Btw, are trees ablaze with color this week where you live? Take shots! The Northeast is a riot with color now. But I'm dissatisfied with nearly everything I've taken. I know there must be people here who live among sumptuous colored foliage. Share a shot or two! 🙂

From decades ago. Ithaca, NY. File under "Mama don't take my Kodachrome away."

We have loads of those and call them Canada Geese.

I've been using my zoom lens in the garden recently and found this Scarlet Lily Beetle.

Here is a gallery of all my photos I've posted to the previous photography thread, including portraits of my first wife, my sister-in-law, Mrs. Rock, my nieces and nephews.

The three pics (12, 13 14) of the blonde girl was taken at the wine fest on the roten Hang in Nierstein. The guy with glasses in the second pic had complained that his wine was corked. She poured herself a glass, took a sip, swirled and spit like a true professional taster and said that it was indeed corked

I believe this is some sort of Grass-moth. It would have blended in perfectly on some of the plant stalks in the garden.

So, I finally got around to selecting some digital photos from previous trips to print and get framed. They were taken between 2009 (the first overseas trip when I had a digital camera) and 2017 (the last overseas trip before this year's), so I've been rather slack. But dammit, I'm going to have some pictures on the walls around here.

Now... how do I actually stick them into a post? I've just realised I don't know how to upload rather than just point at an album cover someone else has put on the internet...
I finally have the ability to edit my signature again. But no, I've no idea what I want to say here right now.

Ah of course, I'm so used to using "Quick Reply" that I forget about the other one.

But there's only picture that's small enough in its current form. Taken at Ólafsvík in Iceland. It's actually stitched together from a couple of photos, thanks to a wonderful little tool that Microsoft used to quietly make available as a beta version with all these caveats about how it wasn't guaranteed to work. It almost always worked.

I've found a way to compress the others... here's Venice and Berlin.

A market in Seattle, and apartments in Montreal.

Last ones... Vancouver sculpture, another Icelandic panorama, and sunset in Hawaii.

So yeah, these are the 10 photos out of thousands that I decided to print from 4 overseas trips. I haven't filtered down the ones from this year's trip yet.

If you ever make it to Iceland, I highly recommend a day trip (i.e. from Reykjavik) to the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Our jaws kept dropping over and over. Both of my panoramas come from that same day.

A shot of the "supermoon" this morning. Just a handheld camera with a zoom lens but I'm curious to see how much it can capture.

https://tinypng.com/ is a very convenient image compression website, no installation required.

I got one clear image of the Moon this morning through a gap in the clouds. I think it looks better with the camera in colour mode rather than black and white, and with a bit of topographical relief towards the right hand side.
