Rachmaninov - Isle of the Dead
Saint-Saens - Danse Macabre
and probably Night on Bald Mountain at some point.
When, a few months before his death, Rachmaninov lamented that he no longer had the "strength and fire" to compose, friends reminded him of the Symphonic Dances, so charged with fire and strength. "Yes," he admitted. "I don't know how that happened. That was probably my last flicker."

Lisztianwagner

Already listened:
Wagner - Der fliegende Holländer, ouverture
Saint-Saëns - Danse macabre
Schönberg - Erwartung

Then, provably:
Bartók - Music for strings, percussion and celesta
"Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire." - Gustav Mahler

Franck's "The Accursed Huntsman" for sure!  It's about a hunter who forsake the Sabath to hunt and then was hunted by demons!  Similarly, Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice.  Loads of films too like Jerry Goldsmith's Omen, Poltergeist, etc.

Do you have the film music or the movies?  If the music, which recordings do you like of the music?
