Draft messages (write now, revise and send later)
Mentions of @otherusers
These three features are especially exciting. I write long messages occasionally that could use a draft feature, and know there are some GMGers who write messages in MS Word first before posting. Mentioning other users so that they see something (a long-delayed reply, for example) could be really helpful!

One more feature that is new and good is the one I am using now to type this: "quick edit," where you can edit your post without having to reopen the composition webpage. Saves a little bit of time/web traffic/data on mobile.

I think this new version also supports a positivity-only "likes" feature for posts (i.e., no "dislikes"), which on other forums people use either to express thanks for a comment or to simply acknowledge its helpfulness without fully replying. Something we could think about, at least.

Looking forward to the customized look instead of this very blue situation.  8)

Maybe profile modifications like location or subscriber badges are settings that just need to be toggled, rather than "bugs".

All good I think - well done to the folk who no doubt have put a lot of work into ensuring this smooth transition to the new format.  The ease of use/viewing on phones etc is a definite plus for sure and worth the trade off of an (initially) unfamiliar look.  Thankyou!

One note, on the posting/replying screen, I'm not yet seeing the buttons for WYSIWYG toggle, draft saving, or tagging other users.

EDIT: Oh, found the WYSIWYG button, it's the document page icon on the far right. Hey, while you're clicking it, try the new maximize button too!!

Brian,

What is the WYSIWYG button used for?  :-[

Thanks, Rob, for this dramatic update! Liking the new look so far, and inserting images is much easier than with the previous version.

If you toggle it on, instead of having to use the code tags with brackets [], you can bold, italicize, link, etc text just like in MS Word and see it exactly as it will appear in the published product. "What You See Is What You Get"!

I've already forgotten what the site used to look like. :)

One quirk I notice is that the quote text seems to have a bigger font than the normal text. Maybe that is browser dependent.

I'll give a +1 for updating the forum software (and I actually like the new look, massively), and another +1 for having the forum in the first place and all your efforts to keep it running.

But, that said: it seems a bit of a jump from December 2021's 2.0.19 to today's 2.1.3, too. There were a number of releases of the 2.1 family throughout 2022: what exactly is the upgrade policy here? I'd prefer more frequent security patches than infrequent version/functionality jumps, basically.

And I still would appreciate it if you'd fix the fact that subscriber badges seem to have vanished.

Really? That's a shame, because it means the problem is more pernicious than I thought! I'd like to see my own badge, please!

I seem unable to upload images in Quick Reply or Quote mode, so I am reduced to linking to an image stored elsewhere. I hope the linked image explains the problem:

I don't see your badge, or anyone else's who is subscriber for that matter. I see all members as GMG Veteran.

I think you only need 100 posts or so to become 'veteran', so that's not an issue per se: most users are going to cross that threshold at some point. But thank you for confirming non-visibility of subscriber badges. Maybe Karl sees them and you (and I) don't for weird reasons...

I'm sure it's a simple fix. I'm not going to hassle anyone about it. I just would like the badges to go back to status quo ante.

Well, color me confused @absolutelybaching I mistook that for a badge.

No problem. It's supposed to have a "GMG:Veteran" badge, and an "S:Subscriber" badge. The one is showing, the other is not.

I imagine the issue is related to this URL: https://www.good-music-guide.com/community/index.php?action=groups;sa=members;group=9 ...which is empty when visited currently.

That seems to indicate the forum thinks no-one is a silver subscriber, which is evidently not true.
