Born in Italy, Clara Iannotta is now based in Berlin. Today I heard where the dark earth bends (2022) for RAGE Thormbones (trombonists Weston Olencki and Mattie Barbier), orchestra, and electronics. Among the many imaginative effects: string players bowing sticks of styrofoam and cardboard boxes, and wrapping metal wire around spools—all amplified by microphones nearby—to fascinating effect.

It's the final piece on this excellent program with conductor Janne Nisonen and the Helsinki Philharmonic, which should be up for a few days.

Oh sorry, I guess they took it down.  :'(

Maybe they will restore at some point, since they do have a few videos on their YouTube channel.

Sad to have missed this but her recent echo from afar (ii) is still on YouTube:
"I don't at all mind actively disliking a piece of contemporary music, but in order to feel happy about it I must consciously understand why I dislike it. Otherwise it remains in my mind as unfinished business."
-- Aaron Copland, The Pleasures of Music

Hi, they took it off YouTube, but the video is still available on the Helsinki Philharmonic's website, here:

Hope they keep it up for awhile. Enjoy!
