Many years ago I bought Stefan Vladar's recording of opp 116-119. It was highly rated at the time - either Penguin Guide or Gramophone. I still enjoy it and wonder if you've listened to it Todd? How would you rate it?

I've not heard it, but Vlader has done some good stuff, so I will keep it in mind next time I dive into late Brahms.

I also feel Glenn Gould and his Ten Intermezzi recording is special. For instance Op118 no.6 middle section is played legato instead of staccato, which is likely not the way Brahms wrote it as nobody else plays it like that. The effect is magical, even if all "wrong". The entire disc is revelatory imho. That and his Byrd/Gibbons are the high marks of his recordings for me.
