Can anybody help with a Microsoft Edge question?

After a tech helped me via a Bomgar connection, the text in my browser isn't as bold as it was/should be. He was addressing another application entirely, so I'm puzzled as to why it's queered my browser. I'm finding this optically vexatious. Anybody have an idea of how I address this/restore the crisp depth of font?

This is a problem with Edge. You can't darken the text. The only option is to choose Dark mode in Settings>Appearance and that gives you white text on a dark background, or try one of the colorful themes which are only slightly hideous. I'd choose the latter.

Karl, it sounds like you changed font styles system wide instead of with the specific app.  Do you remember what you did?

Interesting. I don't think it's anything I did, I was passive while the tech was connected via Bomgar. Let me putter.

What was the tech trying to fix?

I've not used Edge so I can give specific advice, I think DavidW's suggestion is likely. A browser will typically inherit system properties selecting the display style. Your browser speicific properties might be inadvertently modified, such as zoom setting, font color, font style or size.

The fix I would suggest is what I have done, avoid Edge. I use Firefox on Windows, with Chrome as a backup in case of a page that doesn't render well on Firefox.

    Try this.

    Open Edge>paste "edge://flags/#edge-enhance-text-contrast">navigate to Enhance Text Contrast>select Enabled>restart browser>install Firefox.

Karl, you were lucky to find the only other guy on the internet that uses Edge!  I don't have anything personal against the browser, but since I have no extensions on it, I use it as a failsafe fallback.

I've never used Edge. I opened it to test solutions I Googled. If you click on help topics in Windows, Edge will open regardless of your default browser setting.

I have a video, an mv4 file. I wish the sound were louder. Any hope?

There's the system volume and the volume on the player. I have my system volume set at 60% and I max the player volume. All players (YT, MPC, Winamp (!)) are always 100% and volume adjustments are done at the system level. I would try opening the mv4 with another player if you have one.

Thanks. I see now I was unclear. I was hoping to goose the volume as a property of the file.

I always have system volume at 100& and make all volume adjustments with the app or player.

Perhaps slightly tangential, but just in case it's helpful: I added Enhancer for YouTube, a nifty little thing that boosts volume, and also offers other functions, like the ability to make screenshots and adjustments in playback speed.

Thank you. I'm very happy to have someone else aver so. I guess my personal hang-up was how the recording (obviously) doesn't match the live experience. I'm getting over it.

What's the file size? If it's not too gigantic an online program will spit out a copy with boosted volume.

    VideoLouder

For files larger than 500 MB you need a desktop program.
