Now listening to Yukio Yokoyama playing the 'Sonata quasi una fantasia' (No. 13). BIG improvement over the Frantz No. 14, and better sound than the Oppitz No. 15.

I used to rather like Zinman's way with those of the symphonies that I'd heard. Then I heard Scherchen: same zippy tempi; infinitely more insight.

Now enjoying CD 30 - a disc with his Octet, Sextet and one of the Duos for wind instruments. Rather lovely. :)

Just checked out the eBooklet that comes on the 61st CD of the set - pretty informative up to a point, but I wish they'd included the libretti in English. ::) Fine if you speak German.

Having done some further listening since this set arrived yesterday (and on the evidence of what I've so far heard), I can confirm that the Violin & Piano Sonatas played by Zukerman and Neikrug are delightful - these, with the Piano Concerti performed by Zinman, Bronfman and the Tonhalle, are alone worth the price I paid for all 60 CDs. Thus, my confidence in making further pleasant discoveries in this box has returned, I'm happy to report. :)

Just got an email that the order I placed back in September for this has shipped - a couple of weeks after Amazon told me it would not be available until April and offered to refund my money.  HA! Its mine now all mine

Isn't it great to get a great deal like that? 60CDs with very good to great performances for under $30. Congratulations !
