W.A. Mozart

I see that there is a long thread about film music here, so I'd like to try to launch a game regarding film scores.

Each year, the Academy Awards give two musical awards to films:
- One for "Best Original Song"
- One for "Best Original Score"

The second one is for the original incidental music (non-diegetic music) composed for films, namely for the music written to dramatize  the scenes of the films.

Between 1996 and 1999, the Oscar "Best Original Score" was splitted in two parts:
- Best Original Dramatic Score
- Best Original Musical of Comedy Score

This game is about the incidental music, the so called "scores". We will take the five nominated film scores for each year between 1990 and the current year and we will vote our favourite one.

The scores with the highest number of votes in each year will qualify for the second part of this game, in which the qualified scores of each year will fight between each others.

Today we will start with "Best Original Dramatic Score" of 1998. Don't ask me why do I start with the 1998: it's a long story!

So, here you simply have to vote your favourite film score between the five that were nominated in 1998 for the Oscar "Best Original Dramatic Score".
The game will start only if there will be at least five votes in this first battle.

IMPORTANT: since this is a competition between ORIGINAL SCORES, you should evaluate only the music which belongs to the score (the incidental music, which is outside of the film) and only its original parts. So, for example, the music played by the quartet inside Titanic is not relevant.
Thanks to the videos containing my selections, you ensure to listen only to music which is relevant for the competition.

So, the question is very simple.

Which is your favourite score between (see the videos posted below):
- Titanic (music composed by James Horner)
- Amistad (music composed by John Williams)
- Will Hunting (music composed by Danny Elfman)
- Kundun (music composed by Philip Glass)
- L.A. Confidential (music composed by Jerry Goldsmith)

Only one vote! The votations will close on 27 July, in the exact moment in which I will anounce the closure.

Read the OP for more details.

Easy...if it's Jerry Goldsmith, it's the best. LA Confidential
Music is the most essential yet practically useless endeavor in the entirety of human existence.Yet without music our existence would be comparable to the world of insects."The man that hath no music in himself Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils, Let no such man be trusted."W. Shakespeare
