BWV 1080

Any recs on some French baroque recordings / pieces / composers that are not solo harpsichord or opera (familiar with solo harpsichord, and who would ever want to listen to French baroque opera? ;)

vers la flamme

I get the feeling that omitting those two categories doesn't leave much.

Maybe check out some of Robert de Visée's lute music, there is a lot of it, and the incredible Toyohiko Satoh recorded a disc of it for Carpe Diem:

You could do is to explore the Chateau de Versailles recordings streaming

If not, then Saint Colombe (father, not son) and Forqueray -- both from Jordi.  Eustache de Caurroy (I'd argue he's borderline baroque!) also Jordi, Attaingnant (also borderline) -- Hopkinson Smith.. How do you feel about organ music? Someone else will no doubt mention some motets and stuff, Charpentier etc.

François Couperin - Les Concerts Royaux

Savall recording

Also the Savall recording of Lully:

Also, I really like these two works:
Lully - Benedictus
Charpentier - Te Deum
