Beethoven's DNA sheds some new light on his health problems

I searched to see if this story had been shared here, and could not find that it has been mentioned before. A new study based on DNA from Beethoven's hair released in March 2023 revealed new information about his struggles with his health, and raised some new questions. One surprising finding is that he did not have, or die from, lead poisoning, and the hair sample that indicated that several years ago was from someone else. The research seems very thorough. This article from the NY Times is the most detailed one I found and seems to be reported responsibly.
