SO glad I'm not the only lover of Top Secret! Truly "a comic masterpiece" ... one of my all-time favorites. In college my roommates and I watched it with a guy who was both drunk and stoned, and he spent the first two-thirds of the movie laughing insanely and screaming, "WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY?" Or, when the guy is jumping on a tree near the start, "WHY DID THEY DO THAT? THEY DID IT BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY!" Unfortunately, right before the climactic underwater bar fight, he passed out.  ;D

Top Secret has been entirely off my radar, somehow. Gotta add it to the Netflix queue.

And: too sorry-making that Tom Bosley passed away today . . . just watched "The Farkas Fracas" from Season 4 of Get Smart last night, and Bosley was a guest on that episode.  The youngest I think I ever saw him.

QuoteIt made a star of Henry Winkler, who played hip-talking, motorcycle-riding hoodlum Arthur "Fonzi" Fonzarelli. His image initially clashed with that of Richie and his "straight" friends. But over the show's 11-season run Fonzarelli would transform himself from high school dropout to successful businessman.

Holy Toledo! Happy Days ran for eleven seasons?!?

Until the shark incident, right? AYYYYY....OH.  ???

I had to have "jump the shark" explained to me . . . what season did that air? I sure wasn't watching television, and I may well have been out of the country.

That doesn't sound at all suspicious...  ;)

I never saw it, being well before my time. I only know of it from the idiom! According to the InterWeb, it was Season 5 (1977). Actually not that long before my time, just five years.  :o

You mean, the show survived "jump the shark" for another 6 seasons?

My kid sister must have been watching the show at the time . . . but, no, I am pleased to say that I missed it entirely.

Last weekend, I watched Superman/Batman: APOCALYPSE and THE BURROWERS. They were both good fun but nothing to write home about.

Benji

AAAAAATE.

It seems a shark has jumped the Fonz.

Actually THE BURROWERS gets props because you don't see many weird Westerns.

Never watched the show myself, but the sequence in question can be found on youtube.  Painful to watch, and the writer of the episode claims to be proud of it to this day.   ???

The trailer looked stupid, so it's not high on my to watch list.  I always have this weird temptation though to watch movies with Megan Fox even though she can't act.  It's weird. :D

Going to have to disagree with you on Fox, as does Murray and Rourke, in regards to her acting ability. She's been given some bad material, but that is slowly starting to change, and she's willing to take some rather large risks as well, which I respect. Plus she's brutally honest, so I'll always love that about her as well.

I had stopped watching the series before this, but now I see that it was actually kind of cute.

I don't need to know anything about it.  I would watch Kate Beckinsale read the phone book.
