Bird Box

An interesting thriller with a different take on the apocalyptic theme.

Also a smaller movie called Avengers: Endgame, it's not playing in many theaters so it's not very well known.

Watched The Predator on a flight.  The movie itself is one of the worst big-budget movies of the century so far, and the cleaned up language for the flight made it even worse.

Watchable but not memorable.

Much fun in Hal Roach Female Comedy Teams -  a 2-dvd set from the Film Museum München
2-reelers (i.e. about 20 minutes) from 1928 to 1935, with Zasu Pitts & Thelma Todd, Marion Byron and Anita Garvin
and Patsy Kelly with Billy Gilbert, Edgar Kennedy and other Hal Roach regulars including a cameo by Laurel & Hardy in one of them.
George Stevens is one of the cinematographers.   Some of these are reconstructed from a variety of sources, and have some intertitles to fill in missing bits.
I've seen it only listed in the jpc website.  It is a PAL -DVD, does play on a player like Bonanza and comes with a  set of good notes.

Watched Daredevil again the other day. It's not great, but I like it

A Room With A View

I do not tire of re-watching this film. I like the story and the characters. It is also very well acted.

As Good As It Gets

Undoubtedly my favourite Nicholson performance of all time. Helen Hunt is also excellent.

My vote goes to his portrayal of Eugene O'Neill in Reds

Reds was such a wonderful film. I have not watched it in quite a long time and therefore must revisit it sometime soon.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Properly. Having finally read the book.

I'd seen fragments of the film before, including the climax (which did slightly affect reading the book). But not the whole thing.

The film does rather feel like it's ticking the boxes of the book's plot points, which is perhaps inevitable. But I gather some of the later films with different directors are viewed a bit more favourably.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.
