Yes. I liked him here. I liked a lot of ideas in this series, but it is too much of a soap opera for me at times.

Yes. I liked him here.

And I was doubtful in asking!  That sort of portrait, half in shadow, hard to tell a face for certain.

FWIW, I thought the acted the role of Boromir well enow — my quarrel was with how the role was altered from the source character.

Red Tails (2012) - about the Tuskegee airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II - of course, a repeat of an earlier film The Tuskegee Airmen (1995) w/ Lawrence Fishburne et al, which I own on BD - I like the latter much better (kind of more of a documentary) - the specials on the 'Red Tails' are fantastic and worth a look!  However, if you want to better understand the black airmen of WWII then I would suggest the earlier film - for 'Red Tails' I left a 3* rating on Netflix (was a rental), which was pretty much in line w/ the average scores there and also on Amazon - :)

I have about the same reaction, it's worth seeing but not by much. It has the George Lucas disease, the whole movie seemed like it was pitched to 12 year olds. I did like the jets, though, and David Oyelowo should be a big star, but won't be.

How to shoot down a 262: Catch them taking off or landing. Of course that's true of any plane, but this is a jet, so it's especially vulnerable.

He already is, thanks to his role in Spooks (aka MI-5).

What are you referring to? I don't really remember anything terribly out of place, but it has been a while since I saw it.

Mostly a tone of sneering at Aragorn, which is a downstream product of making Isildur's heir a pouty ditherer, I suppose.  He also came to Elrond's Council both with a severe chip on his shoulder, and with apparent prior knowledge of the Ring — which is at odds with his purpose in going to Imladris (to seek the meaning of a riddle).

The Art-Trailer strikes again!

The whole thing is envisaged to be quite art-y from what I can tell by some interviews and stills. But I definitely want to see it. Joe Wright is probably no new Kubrick but has a deft touch. I liked his Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, and Hanna, and Knightley is always a pleasure to see.

Jean de Florette, great movie!
Love the music inspired by Verdi's Forza del Destino :)

I dislike the casting and the tenor of both, finding neither appropriate for the characters created by Tolkien. Aragorn should have been a Robert Mitchum type, and John Rhys-Davies would have made a better Boromir than Mr. Bean, who plays that great bear of a man as if he were Wormtongue!

Wes's new film is wonderful. Have you seen it?

It hasn't yet made to local cinemas here, if it does I'll go. Otherwise I'll have to wait till the DVD. His films are always very meticulously done and I like to watch them, but the only one I love is The Royal Tenenbaums. The only one where I have a feeling that his usual surreal quirky characters truly manage to convey their very real tragedies. Oddly touching film.

Agree with everything you said, Atonement is phenomenal.
I've watched this Anna Karrina trailer probably five times now.

It reminds me of Raul Ruiz film Time Regained about Proust, have you seen it, Drasko?

Yes you might be right it does look bit like that, I've seen it and thought of it very enjoyable, but I prefer some other Ruiz, like Three Crowns of a Sailor for instance. Though my view of Time Regained is probably irreparably skewed because I have previously read the novel.

If you'd like to see something that I think is closest in spirit to Proust try Hungarian film Szindbad by Zoltan Huszarik. One of my all time favorites. Though you'd have to have region 2 compatible player as I think there is no decent US release. British Second Run release is fantastic:
