I agree - Tangled is fun. Aladdin is fun as well and about half the music is still Ashman/Menken byt the way. Hercules was never my favorite, but then I find the story not so interesting for me in any movie, so I am not the best judge on that particular one.

I have three small kids, so am an expert on kids movies ::) I've seen them all a million times.  Watched Wreck It Ralph again a couple of days ago (my last movie).  It is quite good, and stands up well to repeated viewing.

Last night, a couple more BD replacements:

All About Eve (1950) w/ Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, George Sanders, et al - multiple Oscar nominations & wins, including Best Picture & Best Supporting Actor for Sanders.  The AV restoration is excellent (video, 4.5/5 & audio, 4.0/5 HERE) - highly recommended.  Dave :)
I watched it a couple of nights ago, a Bo Ying "vanilla" edition and was struck by how much attention I had paid to it.   I'm quite used to putting films on hold while I take a break, saw this uninterrupted.  It loloks worth getting the Blu-Ray with the extras and the improved visuals.

My wife wanted to see The Other Woman, so I saw The Other Woman, a formulaic revenge comedy.  Modestly enjoyable.  A lot of women in the audience seemed to enjoy some of the scenes quite a lot.  Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is not really a comedic actor, I must say.  The surprise for me was Leslie Mann.  The reigning queen of repellent bitches in comedies, here she is sweet, vulnerable, flaky, naive, a bit unstable, too eager to fall for her husband's lines, but not a dope.  Perhaps she can parlay this role into something better yet, provided she doesn't work with her overrated husband.

One heck of a debut for the brothers! Certainly among my favourites from them.

I think Tangled is an excellent Disney cartoon.

By chance, my wife was watching this yesterday!  Yes, very funny lines ("Here comes the smolder!"), and often "fast" with the jokes like the classic cartoons of the 1930's and 1940's, especially from Warner Brothers.

Hey Karl - I recommend Tangled, too - had the DVD and just replaced w/ the BD - ratings below for the blu-ray disc from HERE - Dave :)

SonicMan46

Last night, a couple more newly acquired BDs (not DVD replacements which is a rarity for me these days!):

Amazing Spiderman, The (2012) w/ Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, et al - another 'new' sequel (second one now out) to the older one w/ Tobey Maguire; now I own that trilogy, but must say that when I streamed this new one last year enjoyed Garfield's character more - the CGI is spectacular; 4.8/5 for both video & audio w/ plenty of extras - recommended to fans of comic book adaptations and those w/ slightly older kids (could be scary for the younger tots).

Rebecca (1940) w/ Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine, Judith Anderson, George Sanders, et al - directed by Alfred Hitchcock - just a superb restoration, especially visually (ratings attached for those interested) - an electic choice, films made 72 years apart!  Dave :)

I think that while much of the movie is pretty dull I think James Woods as Hades more than makes up for it. The guy is so deliciously funny that he totally steals the movie. I think my favorite disney movies are Aladdin, Hunchback (even if it is very different from a book) and, don't laugh at me - the emperor's new groove. I can't help it, it's just so damn funny!

From Pixar, definitely Wall-E.

I've not seen it yet . . . .

The Chinese director Zhang Yimou did a remake of this as a comedy set in rural early 19th century Mongolia (?? actually, I saw it a couple of years ago, and don't remember it very well).  I don't recommend it (like so many movies I start these days, I didn't finish it), but it was very strange to see such a familiar story in a such a bizarre setting.

Hmm. I have that on the media box as well, but might skip it.

On Turner Classic Movies:

The Children's Hour adapted from Lillian Hellman's play.  Audrey Hepburn, Shirley Maclaine, and James Garner.

In general I found it rather stilted, and still "stagey," with James Garner doing the best with his lines.

The child actress playing the spoiled brat "Mary" was fairly awful, with that exaggerated 1930's delivery in almost every word.

Of interest is Veronica Cartwright as a 12-year old.

Here she is in 1979 in Alien:

Seen the original, These Three with Miriam Hopkins? She's in the one you watched as the old lady. Time flies!

No, I have not, but caught that bit of info on one of the websites (IMDB?) I saw in connection with the movie.

I should mention the score by Alex North is excellent!
