First Flight

First Flight is about a pilot's joy of flying especially their first solo flight, an experience they'll never forget when their trainer steps out of the plane and tells them to fly alone for their first time.  It's a real thrill, scary, joyful, unforgettable.  The music is celebratory and dedicated to composer, James Horner, who was himself a pilot and sadly died almost ten years ago.  There are many Hornerisms in this piece in tribute to him.
