As far as I know right now, there is no recording of the First Symphony.

YouTube has a recording of the Second Symphony: it has an "American" sound, which his early, experimental works with tone clusters do not have.

Start there and work your way through!  Most of the symphonies are short, but highly inventive.



YouTube also offers a Sixteenth Symphony called "Icelandic," which was completely unknown to me!

IMSLP listed symphonies numbering up to 17 but there were only fifteen symphonies. Did he withdrew two like Schuman 1/2?
