Is the image size too large?  Or perhaps it has something to do with restrictions and settings for the image/website that it's on?

Nope. None of the above. The images are from my computer and I've never had this problem previously.

Hmmm....🤔 Maybe stressed-out server?

It's possible. I'll try again tomorrow and see if I have any better luck. Thanks, K. 8)

Your avatar is really 914 pixels wide and 55 pixels tall?

Oh yeah, it is a picture of Franz Schubert. ;D

Is it a jpg file or a jpeg file?
For some reason the server does not accept the latter. The solution is changing the file's extension from jpeg to jpg.

There are other file formats the server does not take, and require converting the file to jpg format.

I've tried this and to no avail, but thanks anyway! Also, I don't think it has anything to do with the image's file extension as I've uploaded jpg and jpeg files before and had no errors.

I'm going to try something and see if works...

Edit: It didn't work. I copied/pasted this attachment's address into the URL that you would use when you're wanting to use an image from another website and no luck.

Hopefully, @Dungeon Master can help with this one.

The avatar load page says the max size is 240x240 and the image you show above is larger than that.

I've never had this issue before and it doesn't matter the size of the image, because it's automatically resized by the forum's software. Also, if you look around, you will see many other members who have avatars that are different shapes and sizes.

Yes, I've tried it with an image where I resized it to be less than 240x240. I've tried PNG, JPG, and JPEG. Nothing. All generate the error. I think you're right, there is a problem with the forum software.

Madiel

914 x 55 is the size of the error message. Not of the picture he's trying to upload.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

Well spotted.

The avatar problem might be the "colour mode." Maybe black and white pictures are not allowed? If so, the solution would be forcing the colour mode into RGB even if there is only gray shades in the picture.

I set the color profile to sRGB IEC61966-2.1

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I think he's used this image before. Actually he's used every image before ;) .

My avatar is black-white. No problems.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

My avatar is pure nothingness, flawless :)

Der lächelnde Schatten

@71 dB the photo being in black and white doesn't have anything to do with it as I've used this Feldman photo before with zero problems.

I wish @Dungeon Master could fix the problem and I'm not the only one with this issue.

Just tried to be helpful. Sorry I wasn't able to be...
