I'm still getting it consistently if I try on Firefox to go to the Updated Topics page directly. Which is tremendously weird. Because I can go there from any other page within the forum and everything is fine.

Somehow, the process of saying that it's me and my account trying to access the page has broken down. That's all I can think of. It doesn't know it's a forum member asking for the Updated Topics page so it says no. Once it knows it's me signed into the forum, it's happy.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

Firefox could have an invalid copy of the page in its cache.
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

I do believe that might have been it. I won't be absolutely certain until I've wholly switched off the computer and try another day, but I shut down the browser and started again after clearing the cache, and it was happy.

Is it just me, or is the forum excessively slow today?

No lag on my end, but the day is still young (it's 10:30 AM here).

No lag on my end either.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

The situation lasted about two hours and resolved spontaneously. Probably an error at my broadband provider. But strangely enough my computer told me that the internet connection was OK.

Edit: Just now I see that my broadband provider has had technical problems. But when the problems were there, they announced on their website that the operational status was without problems.

Nope, that wasn't it.

I'll just retrain my computer to head to the index page instead.
