I'm still getting it consistently if I try on Firefox to go to the Updated Topics page directly. Which is tremendously weird. Because I can go there from any other page within the forum and everything is fine.

Somehow, the process of saying that it's me and my account trying to access the page has broken down. That's all I can think of. It doesn't know it's a forum member asking for the Updated Topics page so it says no. Once it knows it's me signed into the forum, it's happy.

Firefox could have an invalid copy of the page in its cache.
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

I do believe that might have been it. I won't be absolutely certain until I've wholly switched off the computer and try another day, but I shut down the browser and started again after clearing the cache, and it was happy.

Is it just me, or is the forum excessively slow today?

No lag on my end, but the day is still young (it's 10:30 AM here).

No lag on my end either.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

The situation lasted about two hours and resolved spontaneously. Probably an error at my broadband provider. But strangely enough my computer told me that the internet connection was OK.

Edit: Just now I see that my broadband provider has had technical problems. But when the problems were there, they announced on their website that the operational status was without problems.

Nope, that wasn't it.

I'll just retrain my computer to head to the index page instead.

Quote from: Der lächelnde Schatten on June 06, 2025, 07:28:23 AMI'm still getting the forbidden message every now and again.

Lots of 'forbidden' responses today. Very annoying when posting at length!

Yes, I got one until I realized the following:

Quote from: Der lächelnde Schatten on June 04, 2025, 03:25:50 PMI found out that the forbidden message has something to do when I try to link certain pictures from other sites. If you look at the linked picture's information, there are actually two addresses there. One of the addresses has an error in the link and the next address has no such message and looks normal. So the linked picture has two addresses that are somehow being brought along when you copy-and-paste the image.

I hope this is making sense, but strange is all I can really say.

Oh, that's interesting. So strange! I wonder if our @Dungeon Master (Rob) could help shed some light on this issue?

It is now forbidden to post about Havergal Brian. That should clear things up for you. $:)  >:D

But I can assure you there's no mention of Havergal on my updated topics page!  :o

FP,

When I look at your postings, I'm seeing a weird symbol at the end.  It's a bit hard to read.  It's a combo of letters and numbers inside of a square (outline).  Looks like O1F over RE4?

O.k., so it's a reference to a page and a quote from the Dead Sea Scrolls?  ;)

Probably won't make life harder for me, tbh. Again  I know I need to try harder *sighs*

Even the index page seems to be giving me that "Forbidden" message. I think it has something to do with there being a "session ID" attached to it, so it gets upset that the timing information doesn't match? Or something.

It just means I can't bookmark for quick access and have to spend a few seconds typing. But it's still weird that this has become a thing when it was never a thing before. *shrug*

Roasted Swan

Last couple of days two or three posts have been "posted" at my end but then do not appear in the thread.....

Extremely frustrating, I'm sure. Did you check to see if it was saved as a draft?
