But as far as I can see, you've changed it (from Johann Strauss to Mozart).

Only because Mozart was available from the "Choose avatar from gallery" option and I didn't want to be left without avatar at all. I actually wanted to "Upload an avatar" (not Mozart) to no avail; nor could I actually "Specify avatar by URL" (not Mozart either). Both options resulted in the "it is not a valid image" warning.

The Birthdays are gone on the main page, well at least for me, I understand of course because September is my birth month, but still.... ;D
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

The calendar has come back. I see that your birthday is next Monday. So I wish you a happy birthday in advance.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

That is awfully kind of you dear Poul.

I know some of you have reported bugs when posting - the board might say it can't process your claim.

For me, it only does that when I use parentheses.

Every time that glitch arises, I delete the parenthesis, and - boom - publishable post.

Cannot change avatar, no valid avatar......... bla bla. Another bug!

Yes, that's the problem that provoked John(Mirror Image) to delete his account.

I've tried once or twice in the last few weeks, but couldn't.
And I believe it was @Florestan who had to content himself with an avatar from the forum gallery.

Why is it so important for some people to keep on changing their avatar?  Personally, I'd rather have one (or none) and just associate what I know about that person with their "name".  But that's just me.

Yes, exactly. Big and greatly annoying bug.

You don't have to want to "keep changing" to be annoyed by a bug that stops you from changing. As previously mentioned, I couldn't change my signature for... I think it was about 8 years. That's rather a long time.

Actually I suspect that's an underestimate of how long it was, given I've been here for 13 years.

I'm sure--know--that I have my own pet peeves (as in things that annoy me, but when I'm in a "reasonable" state of mind, realize that there are more important things in life over which to be peeved).  I'm just happy that we're all able to post here and thankful for all of the work (and money) that Rob has done and continues to do.

Exactly. I usually change my avatar twice or a thrice a year at most, that's hardly "keep changing". And even if I were to "keep changing" like John did, I should still be able to do it . As of late, the forum has been affected by a number of annoying bugs.

Quote from: Kalevala on September 04, 2025, 11:43:07 AMI had a strange one yesterday--and I thought that my post had posted--'til I checked back; it said something about a warning and that my post need to be corrected first.  Well, I was able to re-post it and without any corrections later.

Confusing at my end as it was in the bird thread!  The only possible word that I could see as causing issues (if that was the case) was "nuts"---and Owlice and I were talking about chestnuts!  Maybe there were too many photos in the post?

Quote from: Mister Sharpe on September 04, 2025, 09:34:14 AMI'm getting, seemingly increasingly, Forbidden notices (403 Forbidden Error) on my posts - this is not necessarily a bad thing, perhaps even complimentary - all Forbidden Books are well worth reading, right? But I'd like to think that they're forbidden not because of error but because there's something impermissible, extra fun or of real interest, in them... Might the problem be thread-specific? As in "Last Movie You Just Watched;"Purchases Today"?  No problem, clearly, in the Bug Report thread!
I got one the other day. Who knows?
