Der lächelnde Schatten

My vote goes to @Roy Bland. He just kind of pops up and then like mist is gone. Spooky!

He does of course take his name from a British spy active in Eastern Europe in John le Carré's novels, so perhaps that's the intention.

I have to give the guy credit though for trying. He never interacts with anyone, but he keeps posting these YouTube links to unknown composers whose music is invariably ghastly. We need people like this.

Aside from the countless members who visit often but never post, my vote goes with our friend Linz. Regular and frequent posts, for which I'm very grateful, but no interaction or response to messages or tags.

Hopefully this is a language issue, rather than one of rudeness 🙂. There may be many legitimate reasons why folk don't feel able to engage. One chooses to assume the best of motivations!

Nevertheless, I would love to learn more about Bruckner from the person who seems 95% of the time to be listening to his symphonies! There must be some great observations to share and I'd love to hear them 😊

I'm intrigued by the mystery of anyone who can listen almost exclusively (when counted over time), to a single composer, and a single part of their oeuvre.

Help us out, Comrade Linz!

Many posters can be cyphers because they talk only about their interest and then leave. But there are some posters that share details on their personal life, but somehow the more they talk, the less you know.

Therefore, my choice is Ernie aka @drogulus  ;D

Mine too. At least Linz and Roy Bland post about nothing but music. Ernie posts about anything but music.  ;D

@Roy Bland and I exchange a message frequently and I feel I know about him pretty well. Rather, I find this thread mysterious and odd.

We the mods also find this thread mysterious and odd. With so many different languages spoken by GMGers, and so many different listening habits represented here, we don't want someone to misunderstand the intention of this thread and be hurt by it. Whether they might feel called out, or picked on, or like they need to "solve the mystery."

Come to think of it, maybe we could all be a little more mysterious?

Not locking the thread because anyone has done anything wrong, but as a preventative measure. If someone is "mysterious" because of their language skills or their niche interests, we do not want them to feel judged!
