I don't remember the last time I chewed gum. But I do sometimes eat or drink while listening to music. If the music is healthy, of course, I wouldn't risk to disrupt the function of my internal organs with some godforsaken dodecaphony.

Totally a personal choice. However, I have never chewed gum in all my 77 years.

Agreed. I never chew gum. As a child, my parents strongly discouraged gum-chewing, saying it's a stupid habit. I had no problem with that.

Allow me to have a severe aversion against gum , for 2 reasons:

-often people who are chewing forget that mastication, the endless movement of the jaws, the thoughtless movement of the mouth...becomes a nervous tic....gives the face an ugly expression.
-far too many streets are littered with spit out gum - that also is unpleasant, dirty, causing extra costs in cleaning up....

Sorry - don't use gum!  :) >:D >:D ;D ;D ;D

You'd be happy in Singapore, @pjme:)

I do not chew gum either, and do not understand the allure  of that activity...

I chew a type of gum, remineralizing, but never while listening to music. I also only chew gum when I am alone and I'm my apartment.

I recall when I was a kid in the 80s chewing gum was considered rather bad behaviour in general by many adult or elderly persons, especially if noticeable in any way.
Most teachers would force pupils to stop chewing in class, but still lots of gum would be on the underside of school desks or on the schoolyard.

My father who was socially conservative in many respects, nevertheless still chewed frequently and usually had gum in the car.
I liked chewing gum as a kid but it must be years since I last chewed any and I am not missing it. But I am not generally opposed to it either, even if
I would not mind Singaporean punishments for those who spit it onto the street.

I recall that an alpine holiday was spoiled a bit for me before really beginning because I had accidentally put by backpack into an apparently rather fresh and extremely sticky glob of gum at a bus stop and then had to scrape it off with a pocket knife, not completely successful.
