This was a painful story to read.  Ran across it today on the BBC's website.  A young performer's violin (worth about $150,000 USD) was stolen back in February whilst he was having dinner with a friend in a pub.  One thing about it that was relatively uncommon, the violin has a heart shape cut into the scroll at the top.

In Finland we ask "Kuka maksaa viulut?" (Who's gonno pay for the violins?) when someone proposes something that needs a lot of money and it isn't 100 % clear who would be paying for it (say how services provided by the state would be financed, what kind of taxes would be increased for example and who those taxes would hit the most).
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

It's a common story. There was an incident in our local social media about a musician whose vintage guitar was stolen from the local jazz club where he was slated to perform. Value probably in the $20k range.
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

And in case your Strad doesn't get stolen you can just leave in the cab.

It's Freudian.

Some violinists / cellists desperately want to get rid of their uniquely valuable instrument.

I remember years ago hearing a story about Pete Seeger leaving his banjo on top of his car and then driving away.  Someone found it and returned it a couple of weeks later.
