What a tremendously individualistic position.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

Quote from: 71 dB on October 21, 2025, 07:57:21 AMI was shocked by it as well. I think I was unlucky and I experienced a "worst case scenario." In Finland healthcare is mostly based on healthcare provided by the employers (work related healthcare) and private sector. Those are "fast", but if you are unemployed, public sector is often your only option. It means you wait as long as  it takes. In my opinion unemployed people have been "forgotten", but then again in capitalism unemployed people are "useless parasites" and should just die away. Finland isn't US-like capitalistic hellhole, but we are no socialistic paradise either. We are something in between.

Of course in real emergency (heart attack, severe seizure etc.) anyone gets immediate help, but my symptoms were not that bad.

I think they try to limit the waiting time to one week, but sometimes that just doesn't happen. Two weeks is still reasonable imho if the symptoms aren't severe.

The problem is the public system is underfunded. How is that possible when the taxes are high you ask? Because the costs of healthcare have skyrocketed for whatever reasons. Even if I have the right to use public services, people should not exploit the system beyond the real need.
As long as things remain civil, hopefully, the mods don't mind that this is getting off topic.

Sometimes I wonder if India is Utopian. You... Just go to a doctor. Sure, for specialists, there can be waiting but unless it's something so severe that you need the best in the city, I think just go to someone else who isn't going to be unavailable for 3 months.

Of course AFAIK insurance doesn't cover things like just going to a doctor. Hospitalization is the bare minimum and that too for a minimum of 24 hours.

Still, America is, of course, worst case scenario, but getting bogged down into who covers what also feels... Suboptimal. Naive perhaps but... Insurance can just be insurance, no?

From what I do know, here in India, you go to the department in charge of insurance, tell them who your insurer is and then maybe they reject it but it's not outright, "Yeah, no, this insurance is no good here."

All of this, by the way, putting aside how funny it is that you go to like a proper hospital even if you have the common cold... Or wait two weeks. That's... Not ideal.

Not sure if it's America only but it's strange how you guys don't have small clinics... Not community health centres which are entire operations... Just a doctor in a room prescribing medication... Possibly has a pharmacist outside his room. It's... Simple.

Maybe not, but Sweden in the 70s was pretty close.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.
