Quote from: Henk on July 20, 2025, 07:13:46 AMThere's a certain current of communism in philosophy these days. Interesting. I don't delve in those books too much, a read 'Cybernetic Circulation Complex. Big Tech and Planetary Crisis' recently. Good book. They call for 'biocommunism' and new digital tech (machinic innovation).

Communism is a rather splendid idea, if you ask me. Such a shame it's utterly impossible to make it work in practice.

You can also call it 'planning', it's being researched:

Folks, I might make common claims about capitalism, but it stays true. I wish you don't evade and shy away from the problem.

I read in the book 'Cybernetic Circulation Complex' that content moderators contracted by Big Tech and paid very poorly who need to detoxify the internet (or for purposes of training of AI) are suffering from PTSD, yet need to continue to do the same job. Apple has employees somewhere in Asia who want to jump out of the building where they work to commit suicide, Apple prevents this by spanning nets around the building, while they hardly get paid.
It's such madness.

There is someone that works at Amazon and everyone he manages was sacked, but they forgot to sack him. So he collects 100k a year to do nothing!

Quote from: drogulus on July 19, 2025, 02:58:45 PMI shouldn't do this. I'll probably regret it. (sigh)

"How gullible are you? Is your gullibility located in some "gullibility center" in your brain? Could a neurosurgeon reach in and perform some delicate operation to lower your gullibility, otherwise leaving you alone? If you believe this, you are pretty gullible, and should perhaps consider such an operation."

I got your joke later. Deleuze is not a light read, I'm not gonna read all of his work. I focus on (re)reading some of his books, in particular Anti-Oedipus, which is translated into Dutch a few years ago, a very beautiful published book as well (by which the work even got more value to me) and some other authors who are inspired by Deleuze. For example there's also a book 'The Fold' written by Marks (a woman).

I practice his ethics as well.

I surmise many people do almost that.

Not for nothing but Bubble, besides being an intellectual heroess of mine, has a dy-no-mite fashion sense, an indispensable accessory for a successful career. She's a lesson for us all, but me particularly as I assert my being with more than a little nothingness.

Don't know, but I like to hear the answer. Nietzsche wondered if he was a joke-maker.

I've lost all interest in philosophy.

It's often regarded as a path to deeper understanding or even liberation, but in practice it frequently becomes a refined form of avoidance. Constructing concepts, polishing terminology and engaging in endless discussion may create the illusion of intellectual progress, yet they rarely bring inner clarity or stillness. More often, they sustain mental noise and reinforce the ego of the one who "knows."

When all philosophical knowledge, systems and spiritual frameworks are set aside, what remains is simple, wordless awareness. This absence of conceptual baggage, though unimpressive to the intellect, is far closer to genuine freedom than any theory ever devised. In that light, philosophy is less a doorway and more a distraction. Elegant, intricate, but ultimately a major obstacle to liberation.

Good riddance.

I just use it to sharpen my thinking, not for therapy or "enlightenment". For that I'll go on a diet.

For "meaning of life" philosophy, I have no patience.

Why might one need to sharpen their thinking?
