I'm taking a break from the forum for sometime.

A member here is always critizing me in my core being.

I don't like it and I don't think I've deserved it. Maybe he judges too harsh, maybe he's right.

He writes I'm parroting. He blames me for reading Nietzsche and Osho.

Btw I plan to drop painting and write literature instead.

So what? The world is full of people who disagree with you. Why should that affect you? It is what it is.

It's not just disagreement. These are accusations. Words can cause pain. He makes me doubt myself, maybe he speaks truth. I don't think so though.

Only if you take them seriously. Just ignore the guy and move on.

I have also taken breaks from this forum. It can do good for you if you feel bad being here.  ;)

I have not mentioned Nietzsche and Osho here so it was someone else making you take a break.

Not the worst plans in the World.  :)

Online discussion boards can do massive damage to one's self-esteem. GMG has done so much damage to my self-esteem, but since the damage has been done, staying here doesn't do additional harm. The plus side of this is that I am more humble and I have learned things I wouldn't have learned otherwise.

It's good advice, I would say. Learning how to interact and exchange ideas with people who disagree is an important part of life. So is learning when to be confident in yourself and when to be open to other ideas.

I hope your time off benefits you and helps you get the help you need.

If you don't think you deserved it, you're probably right. Maybe the other guy is just a jerk.
In any event, he cannot understand your experience, and if he cannot give you the latitude to find your own path, that's his failure, not yours.

Thank you, Brian, for your reply. I appreciate it, it makes me see things differently although I still think I've been done wrong. But that's indeed part of life and it's not only drama.

I think you're right mostly, but maybe there's something that I do wrong, I will try to figure out.

There are a lot of intelligent humans on this forum. Intelligent doesn't need to be kind or caring, that's what I've learned. I'll seek the blame with myself, self-criticism comes before criticism.

My mental health isn't the best. This works against me. I need to get healthier.

Maybe, but a boor with an attitude who's just trying to tear you down is an unreliable source of data points.

That's the question. Ideally I agree with you. I'm into buddhism and compassion is central to it, but it's also a matter of trust, won't you agree? For instance: If I'm convinced about myself, that doesn't mean I have to be right. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I do wrong by being wrong. In that case the other doesn't need to be kind or compassionate, that would rather be a totally wrong response.

I have my mental ills and I have to work them out otherwise I'm disabled in some areas of life and social interaction.

I don't say everything I posted in recent days was wrong. I don't have any regrets, I just need to become healthier and I only see possibilities for learning.

No worries, Henk, I got it alright.

My final word for the time being: it's very hard to know who to trust and who not on a forum like this. And in fact with the internet as a whole in it's social dimension.

It's what Osho writes about: minds struggling with other minds. Nobility and honesty is rare.

It makes all little sense to me. Many members don't go into lenghts argueing about stuff. This is imo the wise thing to do.
