I was honored to be tapped by WRTI to write this obituary for the great Benita Valente, who died last week. Cori Ellison, the noted dramaturg, knew her for some 40 years and contributed some choice tidbits.

And if you don't know Valente's recording of The Shepherd on the Rock (video embedded in the article), it is a wonder. Harold Wright on clarinet almost steals the show.
