Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, Bk. 1, BWV 846-869
Lars Sellergren (piano)
Rec. 1999
Sterling 1659-60 [2cds]

A wonderful set of performances.  Some say Sellergren is old-fashioned with his full note values and sustained musical lines.  However, I've never heard Bach's counterpoint so effectively rendered.  Also, Sellergren's rhythmic flow is perfect for each prelude and fugue.  As much as I love the Gould and Tureck versions, this one is just as good.

If you're interested, I'll be submitting my review to MusicWeb International within a few days.

Has he also done Book 2?

Don't think so.  Up till now, Sterling has issued four volumes of Sellergren.  Only one volume is Bach.

I'll look for that review since I know how many of these sets you have heard and if Sellergren is as good as he sounds, he certainly must be worth checking out.

EDIT: I don't see the review, nor does it appear that this set is available on amazon.

Review not finished yet.  Concerning availability, it's probably best to go to the Sterling Recordings website to check it out.  I got my review copy from MusicWeb International.
