I consider Halloween an "american thing", but unfortunately the fashion spread even here.
Last year I bought 1 kg of candies for the children and almost anyone came. This year I just forgot to buy something, and they came in bulk. I simply didn't answer the entry phone so today I found my mailbox filled with shaving cream and other unpleasant stuff in my yard.

Haven't you had enough vocalization?

There's vocalisation, and there's noise. Hazel is only good at the latter ... for now.

My 19-month-old sister went as a duck. Her little duck shoes were covered in sand spurs. ;D

Do you have a picture of her in her costume?  I'd love to see it.

;D

Hope today finds you in better spirits.  :)

It's relentless, George, this parenting lark. Hence my odd thread-starting/posting at the moment. I don't feel much like me sometimes. :-\

Yes, it's one challenge that I am not looking forward to.  :-\

Perhaps it was raining.

I prefer Halloween over Guy Fawkes anyday. I hate Guy Fawkes  >:( >:D

I can see Guy Fawkes fireworks from my window right now :).
Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen
Für den der heimlich lauschet.

Ditto - earlier my corner of the town was surrounded by multiple displays. We stood on the roof and watched them for a while until we realised that fireworks are essentially pretty boring... :P

In Belgium Halloween was introduced through Coca Cola,Mc Donald, Mars,Disney... etc. So,what we see of it is cheap, ugly and silly and very much superfluous.
Radio 1 started today a sticker action : no Christmas junk before december 15th!

Let's hope it works!

They are, aren't they!

Especially from Eid, through Halloween and Guy Fawkes up until Diwali. One can go "Oooh. Aaah!" once to often.

I, sometimes, suspect it is the same people.

No, it cannot be, surely?

Annoying! The pubs swarming with moronic types who look even more scary with their masks & make up off. I'm not against tradition & fun,but this is another one that's been hijacked by commercial interests.
Horrifying! :o

Yeah, I pretty much ignore it in an attempt to eradicate all holiday shenanigans from my life.
