Well, I still only have that one CD but it's already become one of my favourites. Maybe I'll pick up more Penderecki some time but there's so many composers out there to explore! (And so little time.)

Maciek

Yes. Same problem I have (and probably most of the other GMGers (GMGians??) out there)...

Symphonien

Yeah it's a real problem. I find it especially difficult to balance between exploring new composers and exploring new works of already known composers. I haven't even started with multiple recordings yet!

The excitement of the journey really; also that your journey is unique to you and mine is to me...just finishing off my customary Good Friday St Matthew Passion.

DavidW: Yeah Mike doesn't get angry, he gets even.
I wasted time: and time wasted me.

Oh no...in most of my favourite works, no one encompases everything there is to say. Multiple choice...way-to-go.

I'm sure I'll get there eventually. But for now there's a whole host of composers to explore!

Nice. I'm listening to SJP on the radio at the moment, but there's an intermission at the moment with a bit of Auden being recited.

Hi everyone!

Reintroducing myself: I'm from Sydney, Australia. I play piano and bassoon and although I started off with the Romantics I am now extremely interested in the music of the 20th century. I do also enjoy Beethoven, Bach, etc.

Hello there Symphonien. How's the bassoon going? I was really stoked to see a bassoon playing angel on the side of Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona on a recent visit:

Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen
Für den der heimlich lauschet.

stingo

I've made the move too - safe and sound. :)

Wow, cool about that bassoon playing angel. Well, bassoon's going all right. I've been playing for two years now and am currently working on the Hindemith sonata. The conductor for my local youth orchestra also told me that we'll be playing l'Apprenti Sorcier this year, so that'll definitely be cool. Last year we played the Scherzo from Shostakovich's 5th which has an awesome bassoon part!

Sorry for my last post, not the place it was intended to be; gotta slow down on the Jack Daniel's!!

Welcome, Bossy!
