   King Ubu, I can't believe that anyone could describe Nielsen's music as being "derivative" and "not original ".
Derivative of whom ?On the contrary, Nielsen's music is utterly individual and you could never mistake it for that of any other composer . 
    He was a one of a kind composer who never followed any "isms". He just was himself .

The Violin Concerto may be one of Nielsen's more traditional sounding works -- much more so than, say, the Clarinet Concerto -- but calling it derivative also strikes me as a very odd reaction, as it still belongs to that very unique Nielsen soundworld.
