Lol...guys! This is funny stuff. Okay my turn....
Karlo - Janacek, Bartok, Sibelius
Bartók? Really? (I guess you're just pulling my leg because I'm not crazy about Daphnis ;D - or you're trying to point out to me that I forgot him from the top 25 list...  :-[ :-X)
I do of course love his music, but I'd never have thought that anyone would associate me with him.. But then again, perhaps he isn't really huge with most of the GMG folk.

Bartok is in my top five favorite composers along with Shostakovich, Delius, RVW, and Ravel. Yes, I associate Bartok with you because when you first joined the forum or at least some time after that, you went on and on about Bartok, so it just kind of stuck with me. There's nothing wrong with being associated with Bartok, be glad I don't associate you with Dittersdorf. ;) :D

Henk

John - Delius (some kind of platitude), Villa-Lobos, De Falla
Greg (easy one) - Mahler (platitude again?), Prokofiev
'The 'I' is not prior to the 'we'.' (Jean-Luc Nancy)

I went on and on about Bartok? Watch it, mister! ;D I checked the records, and there was a slight peak a little over a year ago, and then I bought a recording of the quartets last summer, but I didn't really see much more than that, apart from him being no. 2 in a favourite composer list in alphabetic order8)
I'm not complaining, though.

If you're not complaining then why are we having this discussion? :) Anyway, I associate Bartok with you based on high praise you were giving the composer during your Boulez DG box set craze.

I'm honored to be associated with these composers, so no qualms from me.

By the way, Henk, who should we associate you with? Who's your top 5 favorite composers?

Henk

Top 5 in no specific order:
Beethoven
Chopin
Rossini
Donatoni
Aperghis

I mention Beethoven, but find his music the least interesting to listen to. I like to listen more to Mozart or Villa-Lobos by example.
'The 'I' is not prior to the 'we'.' (Jean-Luc Nancy)

TheGSMoeller

John (M.I.) - forever Koechlin
Karl - Stravinsky, probably because I know it's his (possible) favorite composer?
Ray (ChamberNut) - Brahms
Brian - Faure
Gurn - Haydn
Sarge - Haydn
Anime Greg - Prokofiev
Coopmv - Bach, more specifically, Art of Fugue
71db - Elgar

more to come...

Thanks for this, Henk. I can't say I'm familiar with Donatoni or Aperghis. Do you think I would enjoy their music based on what you know I like?

Because I just found it odd, and I didn't even remember first that I did have that slight Bartók craze last year. People can have discussions without feeling negative about something, you know...
Anyway, Bartók is definitely in my top 15.
