As Siegfried would probably say: "Das ist kein Delius!"

;)

HA! Yeah, I'm done advocating Delius for awhile. I'm turning my attention towards some other favorites like Honegger.

Oh, I didn't realise you were working in the PR department.

If I worked in the PR department then I would have been fired already because people still hate Delius. :) But, anyway, who cares. Now onto Honegger.

Ha! No problem, DD. Many people here think of me as the Koechlin man, but my Delius avatar is going to be my permanent avatar now. I'll never change it again as long as I'm on GMG. I'm going to become known as the "Delius pest." ;) :D

And we're back to Sleepy D.

Figured I would continue to be the Delius pest after all. The fact that you have to insult Delius is purely a reflection on your lack of understanding of his music and nothing else.

When did I insult him? Look at the photo! ;D

In this picture, he was blind. A poor joke IMHO.

Oh, I didn't know that. In any case, it's easy to mistake that pose to someone being in a restful moment, and perhaps also catching a few Zs.

Yes, Opus, the last years of Delius' life were plagued by blindness and paralysis, but he was able to compose a few late works through the help of Eric Fenby.

So not, then, a result of poor understanding of his music, but rather an amazing bit of ignorance about a man with his eyes closed being blind rather than asleep. That actually IS something else, rather than "nothing else".

Despite that fact that I prefer Haydn, who shits down from a great height on most other composers, I never take it personally and make an ad hominem attack on someone who just makes a casual remark about him. If you would learn that simple lesson, your life would suddenly become so much easier. It would be amazingly akin to taking that target off the back of your shirt. :)

But it seems to be not okay for me to talk negatively about Bach or Beethoven or any other composer I want? Que is the one who told me to not talk negatively about other composers, but now you're coming in and telling something different? Perhaps you guys need to have a moderator meeting or something? I thought Opus calling Delius Sleepy D was an attack on his music since it seems people around here seem to get a kick out of ridiculing poor old Frederick. I apologize to Opus for taking his comment the wrong way.

No no no. Delius was a decent enough chap. Even Kate Bush likes Delius. We just ridicule those who think him the greatest composer ever (as opposed to liking his music a lot). A subtle, but important, difference.

I think you don't understand my position either. I think he's one of the greatest not the greatest.

Don't misunderstand me, MI. I am saying nothing more nor less than that if someone makes some trifling joke about one of your faves, it is not cause for saying that "The fact that you have to insult Delius is purely a reflection on your lack of understanding of his music and nothing else."

If someone makes a little joke, it doesn't mean he knows nothing about music; it may in fact mean that he feels like making a little joke. Relax. Have a Mai Tai....  :)

Like I mentioned already, Gurn, it was a misunderstanding on my part, which I already apologized for. Let's move on.

Let me just point something out there, Gurn. Let's say somebody says that "Haydn was one of the most lousy, unoriginal, derivative composers that ever lived," you wouldn't feel a least bit upset?

You test this regularly with the Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach lovers on GMG  $:)

Right and I get blasted for it repeatedly. In fact, I even get messages from moderators telling me not to insult Bach. ???
