Same, a great piece and performance.

I've lately found much enjoyment in the Lara St. John/Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela recording.

It's a fun piece for sure--just finally got around to discovering it in the Desyatnikov arrangement (the recent Naxos recording with the Nashville Symphony being the culprit) and it's certainly all it's made out to be. I'm not clear how much this arrangement differs from the original, of course.

What also was interesting on that disc was the Sinfonia Buenos Aires -- Piazzolla dutifully following the model of the earlier Ginastera, but with something completely different desperately wanting to burst out. (The slightly odd comparison that came to mind on listening was the early orchestral works of Elliott Carter: again, following a model dutifully but with the composer's true personality largely suppressed and only able to come out once this model was discarded.)

Yeah, I much prefer his Sinfonia Buenos Aires.

A great piece, I've been enjoying it since hearing it live (Jaakko Kuusisto - solo violin, dir., Oulu SO) along with Vivaldi's and Kuusisto's Seasons, which I recall being very good, too.
Kremer's recording is waiting in the shopping list...
