Thanks Orpheus! What a deal!  I combined it with the new Ansermet (Russian Music) as the shipping was the same for either box. Somebody must have placed a decimal in the wrong spot!

That CPE Bach set is now 99 euros! So, definitely a mistake.  I ordered it, and then cancelled it as the shipping was twice the price of the discs.  Then I went back and decided if I got the Hogwood Vivaldi and Haydn sets to go with it, the price would be great and the shipping reasonable...but too late
  Actually, I'm as relieved as saddened. Even if I liked the music, I am pretty certain in my whole life I will never get through 26 discs of CPE Bach solo piano music.

Yes, the box probably became a bestseller today! LOL!  It was about $130 here in the US earlier. Hopefully it is a wonderful musical journey!  So you can get through 40 cds of Russian Music but not 26 of CPE Bach?       Get a case of wine, bread and cheese, lock the door, turn off the phone and turn on the stereo!!!!

CPEB is one of the guys I am most interested in these days, so I am tickled pink. I hope they don't cancel. It came out that shipping was more than the discs but still cheap overall.

  Dude, no comparison! The Bach is all solo piano music, which I love, but can you sit and listen (and distinguish?) 26 different albums by the same post-baroque/pre-classical composer? The Russian discs have wonderful variety from orchestral to chamber and piano, with Romantic and modern flavors.  One of the early discs is modern guitar. As I type I'm listening to "Flight of the Bumblebee". See what I mean?   I sort of regret letting the CPE Bach go, but...I do have 2K other as-yet-unheard discs to keep me company

The Zinman Mahler cycle is only $30 on arkiv.  It includes the Charpenter edition of the 10th symphony and the Blumide movement in the 1st symphony.  At that price it is worth it for me at least.

www.base.com is a new name to me, but have just ordered the Berg Collection for £16.59 plus free UK postage, and saw a number of other good bargains while attempting to navigate the site - this, for example: http://www.base.com/buy/product/shostakovich-orchestral-works/dgc-4757431.htm, although details are non-existent.  It's all a bit chaotic, in fact; selecting Classical from the Music tab gives you the chance to see a list of composers, but they're not all there (no sign of Berg, for example), and those that are quite often appear twice with names either way round.  I shall wait and see whether my order arrives in the promised 4-6 days.
