Wow. I think I have already downloaded a lot of my Naxos wishlist but at that price, I can buy a whole lot more stuff just to be safe  8)

(One catch: multi-CD sets do not seem to be included so look for individual releases rather than boxes, and 2CD items like complete ballets appear not to be options on sale at all. Oh well. Still lots of deals.)

Here's what I found on my various wish lists, three volumes of the Casella/La Veccchia series I don't have yet and a couple of discs I saw mentioned here at GMG at various times.

Alas, Chandos does not carry all Naxos titles.  For instance, Hyejin Kim's 85 minute Clementi recording is not available.  That is, quite frankly, an outrage.

Quote from: absolutelybaching on March 07, 2023, 09:47:34 AMNot sure if anyone buys from NMC at all (I bought a Harrison Birtwhistle from them once. I still haven't quite forgiven them...)

But anyway, if you do:

https://nmc-recordings.myshopify.com/collections/warehouse-move-flash-sale-60-off

There's 60% sale off using code FLASH60 valid until 12th March.

Well, if you will buy stuff by talentless charlatans like Harrison Birtwhistle, then you're wasting your money and deserve no sympathy.  I would, however, recommend the works of his near namesake Harrison Birtwistle, whom one can safely say is the most significant British composer of the last half-century ;D (And thanks for the link and the code - I can feel some purchases coming on already.)

Well that explains why I couldn't find any of his music to stream before! :-[   Now I've got a couple of things lined up.

Well, as you're acquainted with him well enough to have him spelled correctly in your catalogue, then of course I regret my facile comment.  There has been a lot of Harry-bashing over the years in the popular press, frequently with the 'h' spelling, by people who have clearly hardly heard a note of his music.  (Only tangentially related, but 'wistle' (or 'twistle') apparently has nothing to do with high-pitched noises - appropriately in Harry's case, since he specialised in low-pitched ones - but means a confluence of rivers in northern Middle English, seen in place-names such as Oswaldtwistle and Haltwistle.  (In Welsh we do it much more economically with 'Aber'.))

For my friends abroad who don't mind used physical media, I usually see this compilation going for $80-$125 in the US. I had to wait a long, long time, and still probably overpaid a bit.

I certainly don't love him, but I don't hate him either. My comment about NMC inflicting him on me was intended tongue-in-cheek (the clue was in the word "quite"). My apologies for all offence given.

I'll carry this on in the Birtwistle thread, so as not to clutter this one up.

Not new releases but the Jerome Lejeune boxes for a trifle, 14,99 a piece, that a super bargain.
Be quick about it, for they tend to go fast.

For some reason, that "daily" offer is still active a month later.
That's 15 USD for 8-CD FLACS.

Purchased today. Thank you @Brian  8)

Qobuz has its usual Qobuz Fest until the end of August with the usual labels included (Ricercar, Alpha, BIS etc...). I have however picked up via some albums saved in my Favourites that some boxsets have had some large price reductions, without the entry being shown on sale or their label appearing in the Qobuz Fest page.

Among others:

- Koechlin Orchestral Works (Hanssler) - £17
- Koechlin Chamber Works (Hanssler) - £17
- Schutz - Complete Recordings Vol.1 (Carus) - £17
- Schutz - Schutz - Complete Recordings Vol.2 (Carus) - £17 (there are two entries for this set, one at £17, one at £48 - you'll find it by doing a search for "Schutz Carus")
-Holmboe - Chamber Concertos and Sinfonias (Dacapo) - £17
- Telemann - Complete Wind Concertos (CPO) - £17

All the above are usually in the £40-50 brackets.

Some good'uns among the advertised labels:

Kempe's Ring on Orfeo - £8
Knap's Parsifal on Orfeo - £8
Villa-Lobos Neschling set (BIS) - £12
Tubin Symphonies (BIS) - £12
Schnittke symphonies (BIS) - £12
Melartin Symphonies (Ondine) - £8.62

Papy,

Do you bother to pay for Qobuz's premium service--the one that they say gives you access to special discounts?

I had a standard streaming subscription to Qobuz about 4 years ago but stopped it after a year. The prices I have mentioned above are for the standard FLAC, not the discounted Hi-Res price for "Sublime" subscribers. I never took that particular subscription.

I have used the same standard account since to purchase FLAC downloads without a streaming subscription. I use the Qobuz account Page & Favourites as an additional wishlist like Presto to monitor prices between the two, without the streaming facility.

Thankyou for the heads up - picked up the Ondine/Segerstam-Helsinki/Sibelius Symphonies which I've been interested in for some time but not wanting to pay full price for!

Some Amazon marketplace sellers have Medici Quartet's Beethoven String Quartet cycle for $3 plus shipping: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000037BC

I've never heard it.

A Beethoven String Quartet cycle for $3! Then, I saw it was recorded by Nimbus. Dramatically overpriced...
