I alerted a friend of mine who is into this repertoire. I wonder if they are individual cd cases boxed together, or if they are in space-saving boxes ??

Knowing Chandos, they're probably cardboard boxes with sleeves depicting which album it is on each of the sleeves.

The box of the symphonies of these recordings is just that.
And very nice it is too.

A great bargain if one is into this music and does not insist on historical instruments. I have five of them in an older slim box and maybe another single or two and this is enough for me for now.

Blimey...  Although I have no recordings by them, I assumed that an ensemble specialising in this kind of niche repertoire would play on period instruments!  ???  But they don't...  ::)

No, at least not in the recordings I own. They are very good in their way but clearly more in the "Marriner"-tradition of modern chamber orchestra.

Concerto Köln has a handful of symphonies by Vanhal, Rossetti and others ond old instruments and I think they have also been boxed up cheaply (warner).

But they play with a small orchestra, and their dynamics come close to authentic.

Marriner would be a conclusion a step to far for me. Bamert is much more refined and detailed as Marriner with his smooth sound ever was.

There is this box, not quite the same as the one you are referring to. I 've been waiting over a month for Arkivmusic to unback-order it, so I can't supply much in the way of details.

I meant the Teldec/Warner Box. Of the Capriccio I have several in separate issues, Kraus, Bach sons, Durante, the Spanish stuff. All recommendable if one likes the repertoire. That Capriccio box is dirt cheap but one should note that there are only one disc each included of their Vivaldi, Kraus and Durante
But I suspect that some of the works Bamert recorded are not available in other recordings. And unless one insists on historical instruments, they are very good.

Boy, ArkivMusic has really been a mess. Everything I ordered in March is in stock now, but the order itself is still backordered. I'm holding out hope because the 6-week window isn't up yet, so maybe everything will arrive at that time (as you suggested). Really feels like their whole business is being held together by one dude searching frantically through a pile of boxes.

It's actually worse than that. Everything they have shipped me in the last month or so (meaning, since the end of that Warner clearance sale) was never charged to my card, nor was I notified of shipments. This includes that last order that got messed up. I now have the correct items, but never got charged.  I have 8 or 9 items on back order, some now supposedly in stock, and no way of knowing if they might be in transit to me. So I can't even cancel them!

I have to assume that eventually my credit card will get hit with a bunch of charges, and then probably have to deal with suspected fraud...

I have stopped ordering from them until they seem to get back to normal.  Plus I will be going on a quick trip in mid May....
