Regarding the Ligeti edition - the best (and only) price from amazon.com is $83.60 from a marketplace seller. What does shipping from amazon.de to the US cost?

A lot.  Just put it in your shopping cart and pretend to order and it will tell you.  If you have an amazon.com account you automatically have an amazon.de account.  Amazon.co.uk ships to the US very reasonably, though.

The last time I saw, they had a chart with the necessary info.

I have ordered it and with shipping it comes to about £19. I expect there will be import tax and it looks like the postage and tax will exceed the cost of the set, but still be cheap.

Mike

Ordeded on the 18th March, it arived today! No interference from Customs. 14 Cds for £19.

Thanks - it came out to just over $49 USD shipped.

But I have to say it's dangerous now knowing I can get deals from the international amazon sites too.

From any site in Germany shipping is at least 10 Euros, but amazon.co.uk ships to the US for three pounds.  It is worth the effort to check amazon.co.uk before ordering anything major from amazon.com.  I got complete Richter on EMI (one of those icon boxes) for something like 6 pound plus shipping.

Good to know. I picked up the O'Dette and Manze Art sets for a grand total of $23.09 USD. :)

It is perhaps worth a mention that the symphonies (but not some of the other works) are included in the 30 disc "collector's edition" box. But Handley is by a hair my favourite RVW conductor, and the incarnation you link comes with most of his (non duplicate) RVW recordings excluding a Lark Ascending and piano concerto (both available on other EMI budget discs coupled with Delius) and I will continue to gently harass people into hearing these recordings :)

It's genial interpretation, and I suppose this disappoints some, but it's vital, and the numer of "bonuses" included is exceptionally generous.

Thankfully I already have the Handley RVW symphony set, which I got at a nice price from amazon.com a bit ago. Now to find time to listen to all these CDs.

thanks Lethe and David, just bought the RVW box.

Is this the piano concerto disk you were recommending?  If so, only £3.49 at Amazon

Indeed, it's great stuff. The Naxos disc will be similarly priced, but I feel that its extras aren't as strong - the Delius is a very fine concerto.

Just received the Andrew Manze and Paul O'Dette sets from Harmonia Mundi, great stuff.  I also got the Russian Legends and Hilary Hahn sets mentioned in this thread recently.  Will take a while to get thro' the Russians box.  Thanks to all for the tips, what an expensive thread to watch.

I've had this in my Amazon Wish List for a while since seing it reviewed in IRR early in 2010.  It appeared for £1-49  yesterday so is now on the way.

A note from H&B re Naxos:
"We wanted to let you know that wholesale increases will soon bump the price of Naxos CDs higher. But if you order now, you can beat the increase. Order by Noon EST on Monday April 4th and you'll just pay $6.99 for single CDs. After the 4th, our regular price for a single Naxos CD will likely rise to $9.99."
...probably will apply to other merchants as well.

I saw that too, but Arkiv are 5 for $30, so that is a better deal for most I would think and it lasts longer too (says the 18th).
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

It will be interesting to see what the other classical labels will do ...   ::)

I also got the Russian Legends ......recently.  Will take a while to get thro' the Russians box.

How long did it take from ordering to delivery? I ordered mine on the 18th and being standard shipping there is no tracking information. It does have to come to Australia.
Cheers
