I believe that was because the big sellers use bots to match or undercut the prices of other retailers, so when one screws up it creates a domino effect.

Seller name is the same on amazon.co.uk as it was on amazon.de.  A person or a bot is listing the item after it has already been sold, I presume.

...and now it has vanished from Amazon.co.uk as well.

Really? What would stop me someone unscrupulous from

1. Register as a ghost vendor
2. Identify the item you want cheap
3. Advertise it under your ghost company at bargain price
4. Wait for a bot from a big company to lower the price
5. ? ? ?
6. Profit

That works, except someone may order your non-existent copy and you will have to cancel and refund the order.  I suspect Amazon has surveillance systems in place that will detect this sort of scam and cancel your marketplace account before you get too far with it.

In any case, I sell on marketplace and employ various strategies.  Sometimes someone keeps undercutting me by a penny.  So I lower the price dramatically and hope the other seller's copy sells for the absurdly low price, then raise mine back up.  Sometimes it backfires and my copy sells for an absurdly low price.

I notice the Beethoven 87-disc box, from Cascade, not from Brilliant, at $Cdn.26.99 which is about €18, roughly.  No annotations, etc. might be useful for filling gaps for the sake of completion rather than repeated listening...  at amazon.ca

use the Canada link at the bottom of the page, the US price is a hefty $200 more!
Shipping cost is included to addresses in Canada too!

Interesting for those gap fillers.  I have the 60cd set of Masterworks BMG/Sony which is a good one to have.  That was a super duper bargain a few years ago at £14 delivered, sadly gone up manyfold in price since.

I notice the Canada Amazon site has the Lindsays 8cd Beethoven Quartets for cad $8.99.  Picture says 8cd set but info says 1cd.....hmmm ?

Reading the fine print.... Beethoven Quartets by Dvorak!   8 tracks listed, maybe some confusion in the mind of the data entry clerk.

Excellent set Antoine, I really love it.  Just keep in mind it doesn't come with a libretto, but there are several librettos viewable on-line for free.  Hope you enjoy it, the Prelude to Act I Die Walkure is so fist-pumpingly powerful.

Hope its worth every penny  ;D  This is my first Cycle on CD.  I do have all 4 libretti, printed them off a few years ago.  I've never heard the ring on cd, but have seen the Boulez and Barenboim DVD's.  Siegfried had me a little stretched at times, when I was first experiencing it, now after seeing it a couple of times you appreciate how beautiful the work is.

7cd box set, this old chestnut is still doing the rounds at under £2.  I notice that its $50 at some places in the USA  :o

Obviously not up there with the greats, but a worthy listen.  Beneficial to any newbie, perhaps.  I bought this for the Stainer Crucifixion (a work I had previously not heard).

Disc 1 St Matthew Passion BWV244 (1727) Part 1 (Jean-Sebastian Bach)
Disc 2 St Matthew Passion (Part I Cont. / Part II) (Jean-Sebastian Bach)
Disc 3 St Matthew Passion (Part II Cont.) (Jean-Sebastian Bach)

Disc 4 Messiah, HW56 (Part I) (Frederic George Handel) (Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus)
Disc 5 Messiah (Part II) (Frederic George Handel) (Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus)

Disc 6 The Crucifixion (Sir John Stainer)

Disc 7 Requiem in D minor, K626 (Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus)

Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir David Willcocks, Jane Glover, Stanley Vann

Siegfried had me enthralled when I first heard it.  So much so I listened to it twice the same day (Solti/WP).  The ominous Prelude to Act II frightened the beejesus out of me the first time I heard it, along with the battle between Siegfried and Fafner.  Tremendous stuff!  :)

You're right about CD Universe. During a long time CD Universe was my favorite store in the USA, but then they began to charge some crazy sh. & h. costs and I opted for other stores.

I stopped using CD Universe after I realised they were charging shipping on the individual CDs, rather than by package size or weight. So if you ordered a 30-CD box, you would be paying an individual charge on each disc, however compact the set.

Then they changed their search mechanism, so it's not even worth browsing now.

Ah, Orpheus  :-*

The above set arrived in the post earlier today - £34 including shipping (I pulled the trigger on the Amazon.de listing without even checking to see if there was an Amazon.co.uk equivalent).
