Yes, he has, but I've not heard them. Although the typical favourable comment goes something like, "He dispels the myth that Schumann was a bad orchestrator."

That's what everyone says about every Schumann cycle--suggesting, perhaps, that such a persistent "myth" may have considerable substance after all.

Thanks again everyone for your help on the Schumann matter.

This would certainly be an interesting purchase... and it is only around £3 I think....
Anyone know it? It certainly has extremely mixed reviews on amazon.co.uk! There are 5 reviews there; 1 for 5 star, 1 for 4 star, 1 for 3 star, 1 for 2 star and 1 for 1 star!

Thank you for your feedback. With your enthusiasm for the Sinopoli, I shall purchase this set. :)

Well, that looks great! *looks at price on amazon*:  :o
Can only find a used copy for £80! How much was yours?

It was definitely a bit under $50 USD.  I bought the set over 2 years ago ...

It's a bit ragged at times, and the sound is as expected, but always interesting to the hear the composer conduct his (her) own pieces.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

For this you might want to consider another bargain EMI boxset: Composers in Person (22CDs) - €35 at amazot.it - http://www.amazon.it/Composers-Persons-Edizione-Francia-Compilation/dp/B001EX5CH8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320620718&sr=8-1

I'm not sure if I ordered it or not--Amazon came up with a page in Italian that my opera-based Italian isn't up to translating.
It does turn out that shipping charges to the US are given as 14 euros, so it's not quite so super duper...

Apparently I was wrong: a comment was needed.  :D 8)
Yes, since the ASIN link didn't work.  I see you added the website URL.  That should help.

I will wait till it gets available through amazon UK, for 13 euros postal costs are a little to steep for me.

Well, you may want to check for Netherlands. USA is EUR 14. But Europe looks to be about EUR 6 shipping to most places (though I cannot find Netherlands in Italian), which might imply on EUR 32 total with shipping included. You might have to get to the checkout page to know for sure.

7,14 euro's, that rather much, so I better wait, until a better offer comes around, but its definitively on my list.
Soon it will be released closer to home, with less shipping cost.

Well after the release of Mozart's symphonies, the Haydn box should come soon too.

The new erato

7 euros i P&P doesn't seem excessive for a big set like this. Postal workers needs income to.

Bottom line:

Q: Did I particularly need it? A: No!
Q: Did I buy it? A: Yes!

Sure, but I have to watch what I spend these days my friend.

The new erato

That of course is understandable. For the time being I have lost some inhibitions.

Paesi Bassi = 2-3 giorni; EUR 6,00;   EUR 6,00 + EUR 0,50 per kg.

In Spanish we sometimes call "Países Bajos" to the Netherlands.

At the end of my order, it said 7,14 euro's which is rather steep, considering the purchase price, of about 26 euro's.
So i'll wait a little
