Before QE3 was announced, it was $1.56 early last week.  Obviously, the exchange rate becomes a more important factor when you ara a big buyer ...
If by last week you mean mid-August, then you are correct.

At about US $33, with so much music I've never heard, and knowing how nice Alpha dresses up their recordings, I am sorely tempted.

The good news: you didn't discount for VAT. The bad news: shipping is about 12 Euros. So better add that 16-CD box of Ohlsson playing Chopin too, for 30 Euros, to balance things a bit. Or perhaps the 12-CD box of Mravinksy for 20? ;)

Mravinsky, of those: I have the Ohlsson (and love it!).

As a financial planner I often get stupid questions like 'Is it the right time to buy USD ? Or Euros? Should I convert now?

Hah! The only thing that's riskier to forecast than interest rates is currency rates. I always tell my clients 'if you need it now then buy it now'. Over the long run it will make no difference as you'll be lucky - and congratulate yourself 50% of the time and blame your banker for the other 50% where you were wrong ;).

Follow you heart's desire and the current availability of what you covet vs the trend that tends to make the latter obsolete faster than a speeding bullet. If you like it, who cares how much you paid for it?

I work in the derivatives trading area of one of the largest banks in the US, I can see all the frenzies first-hand - QE1, QE2 and QE3 and the EU debt crisis.  The mother of all crashes could be coming in a few months.  In the meantime, I will take some profits and add to my CD purchasing power ...

Well, what will cause this crash if it comes?
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Both the US and the EU are printing money 24/7 to pay off their mountains of debt - but what is backing those new monies?  Stock markets in Europe and in the US have been rallying big-time.  But that terrible hangover will come one day.  The Nordic countries (except Iceland) all have sound money policy, very fiscally responsible and the Finns (also the Dutch) have been vehemently against any bailout of southern Europe, especially Spain and Greece but they are too small a factor within the EU to get their voices heard ...

Really good price on the Bernstein Symphony Edition 60 CD box at Amazon.com in the United States!  It's $85.00 with free shipping for an excellent box set.  This is the lowest price I have ever seen, and it is now out of print around the world at the other Amazon sites.  If you haven't seen the set, it's an incredible bargain and beautiful presentation.

This may not qualify as a super-duper bargain, but Amazon has the *original* 94 CD Rubinstein Collection box set now on sale for under $1000 with free shipping.  For those of you in the know, this set was originally $1600 and has been out of print for 20 years.  This is the lowest price I have ever seen.  It is an amazing collection and presentation in a custom cloth box, with collector's book, all volumes in individual cases, weighing about 50 pounds, etc.  The reviews on the listing speak for themselves.  Something that might interest the CD collectors out there...

But it doesn't contain those 50 extra CDs :o from the newer space-saving set, which goes for about a fourth of the price :o.

I've got that RHEINBERGER set, noted on the same page the orchestral works at EUR 10.99 for a 2-disc set.
If you like Brahms, this would be quite satisfying.
