Always thought Joe Cocker could use a throat lozenge.  A Fishermen's Friend, perhaps?

That very last squeak in the song always cracks us up!  Whenever the song comes on the radio, we listen through to the end just for that . . . tender squeak!

Looks like the Liszt is a no-go for me... :(

Good afternoon,

Please accept my apologies, Unfortunately we have discovered an issue with your order. Although you have received a despatch email we have stopped this item being sent due to a barcode error.

It appears there is a barcode error on Amazon regarding The item you ordered "Franz Liszt" and a DVD "Joe Cocker Live"

Somehow Franz Liszt is listed with the barcode for the Joe Cocker Live, so although you have ordered Franz Liszt from Amazon it has registered on our systems as the Joe Cocker Live DVD

I am unfortunately unable to obtain a copy of Franz Liszt so your order has been cancelled and your account has been refunded.

I have passed this information onto our technical department to correct this error,

I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused,

Kind regards

What a bummer!

I don't buy this explanation. I have this box and the barcode on it when put into the Amazon search box brings up the Liszt box, not Joe Cocker Live! The Liszt set is currently no 6 in the Amazon.uk classical bestseller list (and now falling) so clearly many have been piling in and presumably the computer has picked this up and flagged it to management who have come up with the above garbage to welch on the deal.

To say that they have been unable to obtain a copy of the Liszt is questionable as most of the other Amazon sites have it in stock. Moreover, why is it still listed at the time of posting at £10.70 and in stock? Perhaps there is one person in the technical department and they have left for the weekend?

As a consolation prize, Amazon.de has a 9cd box of Mozart violin and wind concertos from Decca for €8.23 (£10.26 delivered). Which barcode will they claim this is confused with - Cliff Richard 'Summer Holiday'?

Exactly the same message received here! Ah, well . . . .

And I as well, the exact same message.  Note this is an Amazon MP dealer;  perhaps it's the vendor's inventory control that's messed up.

Well,  it was an impulse buy for something I didn't really need, so I won't cry too much over it.

I call this a SDCB given the current Amazon MP rate for the original set  :)

Somewhere, on another message board:

"I ordered that awesome Joe Cocker set and you won't believe the load of crap the sent me!"
Sounds like a cock(er) and bull story to me!

arrived today!

Excellent! Mine arrived Saturday! Loads of good stuff in these sets and they sound fantastic (what little I sampled so far).

For those in N. America, I notice that Importcds.com's price on the huge Rubinstein box (144 discs including a couple DVDs) is even lower than when I recently purchased it, now US$90.  If things go as usual, there will also probably be a storewide 10% off sale for a couple weeks, sometimes soon, maybe this month.  ~$85 including shipping seems like a pretty crazy price if you want this much Rubinstein.  </shillery>

There's a new 152 CD set that contains the whole sheenanigan. Guess that's why thy were so eager to get rid of the old sets at that silly price. Pretty expensive though.

I saw that yesterday.  Apparently, the box set contains the seven volumes of radio recordings plus the contents of the q Disc Mengelberg, Van Beinum, Haitink and Chailly boxes that were previously released.  They have also added six CDs worth of new material conducted by Jansons.  A deluxe book is included as well.  Presto is currently offering it for $763.25.

Well, I definitely won't be buying the that massive box set. I'm happy with just Volumes 5-7. There's enough music here to keep anyone busy for quite some time. :)
