At JPC currently a Warner box sale, among which was this box which I ordered right away for just 13€.  Good hunting.

Follow the link.

This is the one I ordered.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

In the US this set is cheaper:

https://www.amazon.com/Haydn-Symphonies-35-Christopher-Hogwood/dp/B01BHFPU3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472303897&sr=8-1&keywords=hogwood+haydn
The lowest it's ever been (new) is $48 (shipping included). 24 pounds, at today's exchange rate, is definitely cheaper. But really, it depends if you want the Hogwood part or the whole enchilada.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

The US set has all of Hogwood's recordings plus others that Hogwood didn't get to before they killed the project. I am a big fan of Frans Brueggen's Paris and London Symphonies as I likely paid about $40 for those alone when they came out. So the US set has more "stuff" if anyone is interested.

Personally I like Hogwood except his Haydn where there is just something missing...

I count this reissue certainly as a bargain. Many of you will want this box.

And another one that looks to me very interesting,

That certainly must be a superb set. Unfortunately I believe I have most of it, but if it turns out I have less than half, I will buy. But I need to check the shelves first.

Not sure if this is a blowout deal, but an Amazon MP seller has the complete Stravinsky for $56 (not incl. shipping):

The Briliant 40-cd set of Romantic Piano Concertos, a lot of reissues of Vox/Candide/Turnabout, not the Hyperion series for about a euro a disc at amazon.uk  (ASIN does not work for me)
What might volume 2 bring, I wonder.

Does this include/expand on the 20 CD "Golden Age of Romantic Piano Concertos" set?

I am pretty sure that all or most of the older 20-disc-set is included in the newer box.

okay, thanks - guess as that 20-disc one has been on the shelves untouched for a couple of years, that'll do for me  :)

Same here. ;) That box is actually one of the "bargains" that wasn't really a bargain for me. And worse, I should have known that I would not be all that fond of the music.

Azon USA has it as a download for 99 cents. Or did last week when I bought it.

Bargain set of Mendelssohn and his 5 Symphonies.

Orch & Chor of Trieste Giuseppe Verdi Theatre, under Lu Jia - RS Generali Group label, 3 cd fat box, 1993 - 1995

Link, AmzUK, follow the New link to the seller * 5 stars * who are knocking this set out for a mere £1.77p plus the usual £1.26 shipping.  £3.03p delivered to the UK.  Nice bargain, decent additional, additional, additional set  ;D

Mendelssohn

Having not listened to Mendelssohn's First for years, this really helped in recognising what a lovely work it is.

I got a bargain recently. It was the complete Bach cantatas with Rilling for 35 Euros. I never intended to buy this set, but it was a special "offer of the day" of Amazon Germany and I snapped it and I am glad that I have done that because it's wonderfull music and I don't think that Rilling is that bad, although some say that other recordings are better. I enjoy the Rilling and have heard 6 CDs.

Rilling has all kinds of good things going on. The spirit of the music is projected in a most inimitable manner, but never is it insincere. There might be some quibbling about this or that interpretive touch but that's true of every single set.

From my view, you chose wisely. :)

In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

I was thunderstruck by the Alto Soprano Duet in BWV 3 with Arleen Auger. Rilling's set may not be HIP, Original Instrument, but the results can be very satisfying, and the vocal soloists are sometimes sublime.

Lots of bargains on JPC starting from 0,99€. A lot of Edita Gruberova cd's for that price, and 38 titles of the label Praga for 3,99.
Be quick about it, it will not last long.
