Pretty decent match.  Alcaraz and Sinner manage to raise each other levels.  Hopefully, we'll be able to watch a number of years of the two playing each other.  Sinner is now the first Italian (male or female) to ever win Wimbledon.  Alcaraz won it the past two years.  Nice comments and sportsmanship by both.  :)

Have had a/c on the whole day due to humidity.

Monday is giving us also good weather. +23°C/feels like +25°C  8)

I waited for the summer to properly start for about 6 weeks, but it finally happened July 12.

That would be pleasantly mild compared to what we've been having - above 30ºC pretty much every day for the last week. And, unfortunately, we're having storms rumble through frequently - our next one should be here in about 90 minutes.

Turning into a thunderstorm/rain day today.  Hopefully, no flooding.

Hopefully the storms don't do damage to your property.

+30°C is pretty much the warmest it can get in Helsinki (Gulf of Finland limits the temperature), but it happens maybe once in 10 years. In the inland of Finland it can get warmer than this. Even in the north Lapland it can get quite warm! The record warmest day in Finland was +37.2°C. This happened in July 29, 2010 in Joensuu (440 km/275 miles north-east from Helsinki).

Thanks. It's unlikely, other than possible hail damage to my car, because I'm a renter. ;)

I could very much enjoy a climate where summer highs were in the low 20s C. Our "feels like" temperatures have been really oppressive lately, upper 30s C sometimes, due to tropical dew points as high as 25ºC. Given that this is northern New England where conditions like this are supposed to be unusual, I have little doubt that our climate is warming. Central Vermont's climate now is comparable to what southeast Michigan's was like when I was growing up in the 1960s and '70s, except that we never got quite as much snow in MI as what I've seen here in VT.

I envision that eventually we will see climate refugees from the southern US states migrating north to places like northern New England and Minnesota - though by then, even those places will have enough excessive heat in the summer to make air conditioning all but necessary.

It's raining like real horrible with lightning and thunder.

I'm praying to the Goddess to make it stop.

In Finland this summer was rather cold up until about July 12. After that the weather became much warmer and has been getting slowly warmer and warmer. Today we are getting +28°C/+29°C temperatures in Helsinki. In Parikkala near the Russian border today is the 14th successive day when the temperature has exceeded +30°C (new record in Finland). The forecast for tomorrow (lauantai = Saturday) looks similar to the weather today:

So, after not so warm May/June/early July we are getting plenty of heat. It is +30°C in my apartment (AC is somewhat rare in Finland).  ???

At least you've broken out of the chilly spell you were in. It can be a case of out of the frying pan (or the refrigerator), into the fire, though. Yesterday was uncomfortably warm here, +32.5ºC for a high on my weather station. When I moved into this flat, I finally broke down and bought a window A/C unit. It's been getting a lot of use this summer.

We were up around 28ºC earlier today, but a brief shower has brought us down to 25º. Probably only for a short while, unfortunately.

It is currently 99°F outside with a real feel of 111°F. The extreme heat advisory is lasting until Monday night.

Bleh!  Trust that you and Missy are managing to keep relatively cool?

Not too bad here...low 80's (a/c is still on though).

Yes, AC and ceiling fans do the trick. I've also closed the blinds.

We're not terribly hot today, and it's cooling off quite nicely now that the sun has gone down. The main problem has been air quality, due to wildfire smoke. We've been solidly in Code Red conditions all day, going down very slightly this evening into high Code Orange. Most places the air just tastes a little bitter, but in some places the smoke smell is overwhelming. The temp/dew pt spread most of the day has been >5ºC, but it's been so hazy that sometimes you could not see the next ridge over. Clearly it's not mist or fog, but lots of fine particulates.

hopefullytrusting

This summer has been hellish, essentially every day we've had some kind of heat effect warning in play (especially regarding air quality) - I live in Mankato, Minnesota, currently. My energy costs have tripled.

So sorry to hear that.  Not healthy for any living being.  :(

Yes, a/c electric costs really hit hard during hot periods.
