Sounds like you're going to have the year from Hell.  My advice is not to be so extreme; just cut down and only acquire the most appealing recordings.  Moderation is the gateway to Heaven.
I agree with Don.....
just try to listen to all of the CDs you haven't listened to, and keep it at maybe 1 every week or two with any extra money you have, then spend the other extra money on something else!
that way, you'll have time to listen to both new and "old" unlistened-to CDs

(i bet someone already said this  ;D )

Checking my iTunes history, I just realized that I've added 20 gigabytes of music to my library in the last 30 days alone! (My total library is around 120 gigs right now.)    That's almost 3,000 "songs"...264 hours of music, added in just the last 30 days.  Perhaps I need to cool it for a while, too, just to get caught up on listening before adding any more.

The "problem" is that my local library system has a really, really great CD collection, and they'll get anything from any other branch and deliver it to my local branch, and I can do that all online. It's way too easy to add stuff. :)

12tone.

What about a classical music calendar?

Sit down and jot out the cds you want to listen to on each day box.  Then stick to that.

Not a bad idea, but I'd be bound to deviate. :D
