Is there a recording of the F.A.E. Sonata?

I can't seem to find one, though I am sure I have seen one before. The Brahms Scherzo has been recorded hundreds of times, and Intermezzo of Schumann a few times too, but outer movements seem more elusive, but ideally I'd like a recording of the whole thing.

Sheet music is available. ;D

I have not heard of a complete recording, and the only complete performance to my knowledge (from an Inkpot review) was in Singapore nine years ago by relatively unknowns. The reviewer was not impressed.

Try splicing your own recording, or listening to the movements in sequence. 1 Dietrich is available on Camerata label and maybe others. Schumann 2 & 4 are the final two movements of his 3rd violin sonata, and available on several labels. 3 Brahms is also on several labels.

Failing that, write Naxos. They'll record anything. :)

Well, you can get this one. It's the only one I've ever seen. :)

Good work, Gurn. Though I do not think the work is worth $24 plus shipping. Anyway, that shall be for the OP to decide. $:)

Yeah, that's why I never bought it myself, although I found it 2 - 3 years ago. It is 2 disks though, and has the viola sonatas, which are uncommonly recorded too, but $24 +.... :-\

Guido, I asked the same question, and I believe Carlos replied back with a recommended recording.  I'll try and locate that post.

Oh, sorry about that Gurn.  I tried to open your link, but it was blocked by our IT group at work.  ::)

I haven't got the faintest idea.. ;D
The only performers I know are Isabelle van Keulen & Ronald Brautigam - that one should be good.

But naturally I'm myself intrigued by the HIP recording. :)
It is 3CD box which includes the violin versions of several Schumann pieces for horn or clarinet and pianoforte, as well as three works by Clara Schumann. More info HERE.
