So in this "Top 100" there is only one Sibelius piece (and you don't need me to tell you which one), but nine Beethoven works.

The ratio sounds about right :)

that list is so perfect in so many ways.....

i mean, look, everyone knows the Pachelbel Canon is one of the greatest classical works ever, it's miles ahead of the Rite of Spring! Oh wait, the Rite of Spring isn't even on the list, even better! It also kicks Mahler's butt, seriously.....

oh, and look at this..... the best work by Prokofiev is Peter and the Wolf. Duh, why didn't i figure that out earlier?

greg

oh yeah, not to mention Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice.... you think it would've made the list if it weren't in that Disney movie?

greg

i wonder if the Rossini "Overture to the Barber of Seville" would've made the list if it weren't in Bugs Bunny? what about "Ride of the Valkyries"?

oh, well, why question? these are the classical hits, after all. If they're somehow portrayed in one form or another in tv or popular movies, they're likely to make the list, i guess, since that's the most important thing.
