I keep thinking about getting a gun for the coming apocalypse but never get around to it.

I assume you are referring to the coming zombie apocalypse.  You need a gun.  Preferably a 12 gauge semi-auto or two.

Watch the closing sequence of "From Dusk 'till Dawn" for technique.

Put the nickles in a tube sock. Use it as a cosh. A couple of good whacks can save your life. Not sure you need the knives, but if you feel you do, don't play around, get it done right. :)

Better yet, buy a coke machine - then you can buy cokes with the nickels and put them in a pillowcase

Cheers, all. Sound ideas.

Of course I have seen ZOMBIELAND and know all about the headshot.

And the double tap.  Do not forget the double tap.

Nice! Details?  :)

8)

Its a Romanian PSL-54C (sometimes called a Dragunov, but real Russian or Chinese Dragunovs have different actions and cost thousands).  This is basically a sniper rifle built off the AK-47 chassis

QuoteThe primary differences between the original Dragunov and the PSL are the Dragunov receiver is milled while the PSL's is formed from stamped sheet metal and the Dragunov utilizes a unique spring-loaded, short-stroke gas-piston rod that is not attached to the bolt carrier while the PSL uses the long-stroke AK/AKM system in which the piston rod is integral with the bolt carrier. There are other minor differences like the design of the cheek piece, the forearm, the trigger, the muzzle brake, disassembly, quality of machining, but basically from an overall external profile, both models look exceedingly similar.

Ah, nice. So it uses a 7.39 (.308) short like an AK. I've heard of Dragunovs, never seen one. It should be good for decent range targets.

works equally well at shorter ranges, but at close range its hard to beat a Saiga-12

My lord, what is the intended use of something like that.  I can see that it would have been useful in the final sequence of Quentin Tarantino's "From Dusk 'til Dawn" but situations like that don't come up so often... :P

Urban warfare. Very hostile crowd control. House to house searches for armed hostiles. It is a weapon of war. Plus, fun to shoot plastic bottles with... :)

Seems ill suited to crowd control, given how quickly that magazine empties out.   :P

By the time the mag is empty there is no more crowd. Sounds effective to me. Plus, you just need to put it in 3-shot-burst mode and conserve your ammo. That full auto was just for show. :)
